We must have a true view of the future of the City of Greater Bendigo, to understand the present and reflect on actual data from the past. This is where the truth is written and in order for the economic performance of the Council to reflect social, cultural and environmental growth, we must consider this data.
Revision of council’s management structure is a must for the economic survival of future endeavours. Flexibility is paramount if we are to succeed.
I will encourage the youth of the region to understand council operations and to support decisions for the future. A council with determination to represent the residents, integrity as leaders and a vision for the future. One skilled flexible economic team that can service the needs of all twenty industry sectors.
I will encourage the use of high-tech software. I will encourage the regional rural areas to sustain clean food to meet the International demand. I will encourage and support agriculture to retail.

Local businessman, Vaughan Williams, experienced IT consultant for over 25+ years and General Manager of Outside the Box I.T. Solutions, Golden Square has confirmed his intentions to stand for the 2020 City of Greater Bendigo Council elections in Lockwood Ward. Vaughan attended both primary and secondary school in Bendigo, until moving to Brisbane with his family to help run their news agency. Over the course of the following 15 years, Vaughan attained his Associate Diploma in Technology (Computing) working in the Information Technology sector in Brisbane. Vaughan worked with some of Australia’s major companies such as Boeing Australia, Rio Tinto and various government sectors such as Emergency Services, the Education Department and local council. Vaughan then went to work for Brisbane City Council as their Business Development Manager within City Design. This gave Vaughan an in-depth inside experience of what was important for the future growth of a major city and more importantly the needs and wants of the community to help sustain and achieve that growth. After the birth of his daughter, Vaughan decided that he wanted his family to reside in a city that has the strong country values that he was brought up with, so he moved back to Bendigo just over 14 years ago. Over that 14 years of being back in Bendigo, Vaughan has witnessed the outcomes of both the 2008, 2012 and 2016 elections. He has watched and listened with interest. Within the past four years in particular, issues that have been raised by and for the people of Bendigo remain unresolved. Issues that affect ratepayers. Examples include the attempted closure of the Golden Square pool in November 2012, 2016 and again in 2020, Council Officers "railroading" the Demolition of the Kangaroo Leisure Centre in 2015 where the interests of many in the local community were disregarded, the hasty and unnecessary demolition of community facilities at Malone Park, intrusion into and intimidation of local farm businesses conducted by the Carter family at Marong. “A city can only have sustained growth through the creation of Jobs, Infrastructure, supporting local business, enticing new business enterprises, taking advantage of new technologies and the most important part… The wellbeing and life style of the Community.” Vaughan believes there is considerable capacity within Council over the next four years to effectively “cap” rates at a ZERO% rate rise and remove or not implement any new costs, as we come out of these hard times of COVID, citing excessive top level bureaucracy and staffing resources and the need to better manage finances as impediments to Council’s future financial viability. Vaughan believes one of the main issues is the failure of most Councillors and council staff to genuinely engage with the community and the lack of Transparency & Accountability. As seen by the example of the Golden Square Pool and the Kangaroo Flat Community Leisure Centre. Vaughan Williams is very strongly committed to listening to the community's concerns. Vaughan’s mantra will be “The people of the community come first". "Of that you can be assured!" Vaughan’s strengths are his commitment to the community, ethics in local government, outstanding listening skills, knowledge and experience in, and state of the art knowledge, of contemporary I.T. and technological developments. At this Council election, Ratepayers have an opportunity to make a real change, they need more than ever before, to analyse candidate statements and make a considered vote in the upcoming CoGB Elections. Vote for a real person that honestly cares about the people of Bendigo, so we can grow this city together. Postal ballot papers are mailed out between 6th-8th October 2020 for the 23rd October, 2020 election. Written and authorised by V. Williams - High Street, Golden Square VIC 3555Copyright © 2020
