As a councillor for the City of Greater Bendigo it will always be my goal to bring transparency and accountability to council as a whole. Listen to the community and openly show the changes being made to the community including the stages of ongoing, future operations and projects. I believe in a responsible rate increases strategy and cost reductions to help all ratepayers as we come out of these hard times of COVID and now into the hard times of rampant inflation. I support refocusing priorities towards local industry and the local economy to create greater job opportunities such as creating new Technology-centric industries and tackling the increasing issues of housing, homelessness and mental health. It is of paramount importance to support the growing needs of the community and to take seriously the voices of the rate-payers, encourage people to have a say as it will be heard and acted upon. Council must concentrate on its core responsibilities. I am about building long term goals for the region and supporting local business to get the job done. Bringing jobs back to the people of Bendigo.

Roads, Rates

Rubbish

Council must concentrate on its core responsibilities, first & foremost for the whole community.

Footpaths, drainage upgrades and better road maintenance are high priorities on my list. Together with a visionary future transport plan.

Affordable Housing

Social & Emergency

Social and affordable housing is great and what is needed, but are we are missing the point! What is needed urgently is transitional accommodation/housing. So, people in their thousands now, can get back on their feet and eventually move back into the housing/rental market. Council needs to be a strong advocate for a growing population and those most in need. Is the old way of generational housing one of the answers?

Local Agriculture & Farming

Food Security

Advocating for food security, agriculture & our great farming community is high on my agenda. Community gardens, nature strip gardens and education in this sector is also a must to help keep Bendigo in a good place for food security and a strong agriculture industry. I sit on the Farming & Agri Advisory Committee and Chair of the Bendigo Livestock Exchange Committee.

Food Security
Business, Jobs

Technology

Supporting Local Business is key to a strong Bendigo and a growing population. I have advocated for a new Bendigo Technology Hub, that would cover all technology from AgiTech, Software development, new Startups & TechManufacturing. Tourism, Retail, Manufacturing, Hospitality & Agriculture are all crucial for the successful growth of Bendigo.
