One of the key changes I would like to see in our council meetings is giving the residents of Bendigo a genuine opportunity to have their say. Currently, they are only permitted to state their name, suburb, and ask one question—without any context or preamble.
I believe this approach is flawed. Residents should be able to address the council and express their thoughts—whether positive or critical—on matters affecting the city. Every resident has the right to voice their concerns and opinions directly in the council chamber, and this right should be respected and upheld.
